Treibgut is a German word that has no direct translation; floating goods. Originally it was used to describe, flotsam, floating wreckage of a ship or its cargo that were thrown overboard from a ship in order to lighten it or improve its balance. They might find new value with new owners.

This collection of digital debris can be seen in a similar way.
